New J-STAGE system launched
JST is pleased to announce the launch of new and enhanced J-STAGE system, one of the largest aggregated Web sites with more than 2.3 million articles covering some 1,600 titles published by academic societies in Japan.

Japan Link Center becomes an official DOI Registration Agency
The International DOI Foundation appointed Japan Link Center (JaLC) as the 9th official DOI Registration Agency on 15 March, 2012. JaLC, the joint project of Japan's information-related institutions including JST, will officially start in April 2012. JaLC will assign DOIs and provide sustainable access to Japanese electronic scholarly content.

One of JST's core activities is promoting the dissemination of scientific and technological information in line with its mission to support innovation. By providing a comprehensive information infrastructure -- focused on easily accessible databases -- JST aims to contribute to the quest for innovation in Japan and around the world.

Dynamic research and development (R&D) is essential to the innovation process. However, truly original R&D requires timely access to high-quality information. Since its inception more than 50 years ago, JST has pioneered in information services for Japan's research community in the field of science, technology and medicine, starting with the collection and indexing of domestic and overseas scientific and technological literature. At present, JST provides a broad line-up of databases for industry and the academia covering not only scientific literature but also such areas as information on individual researchers, patents, chemical substances, genes and other research output. JST has also launched a new service capable of identifying and linking different types of scientific and technological information, which aims to provide insights from fresh angles, and hence stimulates unexpected discoveries and cross-disciplinary breakthroughs. Through this information infrastructure, JST aims to contribute to the generation of innovation.
